OpenRouter (BYOK)
How to create an API key for OpenRouter and add it to AnyRouter via Bring Your Own Key.
OpenRouter is a supported BYOK provider. Bring your own API key string, and AnyRouter routes your requests through it — no platform credits are charged for BYOK-backed calls. This provider has a free tier or free credits — a good place to start.
Get your API key
- Sign in to OpenRouter.
- Open Settings → Keys.
- Click Create Key, add a description and optional limits, Create, and copy it (
sk-or-...).
Gotchas
You don't need to set a Base URL for OpenRouter. AnyRouter picks the right model automatically from your key pool.
Add it to AnyRouter
- Go to Dashboard → BYOK.
- Find OpenRouter under Available and click Add key.
- Paste your key into the API key field.
- Create key: OpenRouter console
- Default base URL (editable on the key form):
https://openrouter.ai/api/v1
- Click Save. AnyRouter runs a live validation call against OpenRouter before storing the key — if it fails, the dialog shows the upstream error and the key isn't saved.
